Kleinberg Kaplan Partners Joshua M. Kaplan and Jeffrey B. Kolodny were recently published in Bloomberg Tax: Tax Management, Estates, Gifts and Trusts Journal. Their article, “The Lows and Highs of Estate Planning in a Pandemic: Making the Most of Estate and Gift Tax Opportunities in the Covid-19 Economy,” discusses the opportunities 2020 can provide for estate planning despite the year’s overall uncertainty. The circumstances explored include: (1) low asset values; (2) a high estate and gift tax exemption amount; (3) low interest rates; and (4) high levels of market volatility and uncertainty.
